Blog Improvement

Salam, random-yo.jpg

I wanted to say i have been blogging for about 6 months now mashallah, and i appreciate whoever has been coming and participating on the Chill Islam Yo site. Alot of Websites have been adding me to their blogroll, shout out and love to all of you for your support. All the emails showing love from london to india to australia. Jazakullah Yo!

Inshallah Allah give you all success in this life and in the hereafter. I know some of you are tired of seeing the same design over and over again so i will change the design. Since the new year is coming, its only best if we start things off right, because as Muslims we start from the right doing things the right way except when you enter the bathroom with your left foot.

But inshallah i want to give it a extreme halal makeover, no plastic surgery involved, mad haram, but as you can see on the top right of my site i have put up a poll. No its not an election poll, its a poll which asks how do you feel about my website in all honesty. About 90 percent of the votes indicate mashallah they like my site but some are starting to shift and are saying i need a new design. So since this isn’t a dictatorship like Pakistan and im not musharraf, i want to help all of you as much as i can. Right now just check out my updated top articles page and let me know what you think!

I created this website to help every person on earth especially the Youth who are stuck in their ways. I like to do whatever i can by the will of Allah (God Almighty) to write in a different way and effectively deliver my messages and themes but most importantly drive the ideas home with “Real Halal Talk”.

So gotta walk the walk with real halal talk, but any hows back to the matter at hand, since my traffic has picked up a lot more than i expected. I am going to renew my hosting plan and inshallah i am working on a makeover and organizing my articles so you can benefit from them.

Let me know what else i should do and how you feel in detail about the site, especially constructive criticism, be honest, don’t lie like Pinocchio.

Jazakullah for your support, your brother from another mother….Saad Ahmad Rashad.

Wasalaam and remember “Chill Yo Islam Yo” ..The Movement

Driving Pass the Dunya

Salam Yo, ist2_4582044_sign_background.jpg

Thank God I finally got my permit, its good to know now i can give dawah on the road, whether it be having an I love Islam license plate or letting other cars get in front of me. Driving is mad fun especially in the beginning, once you put your hand on the wheels its like you can just drive wherever you want, you can go to the masjid if you have a car, now you have no excuse to miss fajr.

You can give people rides and get good deeds, haha alot of people told me “don’t get a car, because when you do you will always be giving people rides” and i noticed that myself because i always ask people for rides. Are they getting annoyed? God knows best but if they help me, Inshallah they will get rewarded for it. Do it for the sake of Allah

Anyhows anybody who drives knows you have to be defensive, especially in New York, where everyone is always in rush hour. I need an eman rush. Basically my point goes back to what Shaykh Hamza Yusuf Hanson Al Maliki said ” Driving is an Ibadah(form of worship) you can kill hundreds of people on the freeway”. So always be alert and keep your eyes on the road, not at haram things, lower your gaze!

He also said ” a car is a weapon of mass destruction, and you don’t give weapons of mass destruction to idiots”.

Its all good, just jump in the car, read the dua(supplication) for traveling and drive with confidence and watch out for the road devils filled with rage.

Its interesting now a days cars have navigation systems, Sheikh Khalid Yasin said ” If men can make navigation systems to tell you how to guide you from point A to point B then you don’t think God can guide you from this life to heaven thats the real destination, and he did give you the guidance and that is the Holy Quran!

So Yo, keep it moving in this life as our beloved Prophet Muhammad said we are just travelers. We gotta maximize our resources to the highest capacity whether it be using a computer to gain true knowledge or the car to go to the masjid or any place which is HALALUJAH!

Wasalaam, Stay up, Inshallah make dua i can get my driving license…..and marriage license! haha.

How do you measure success?

Salam, ist2_4185175_measuring_your_success.jpg

As a Muslim American trying my best to be a productive member of society, abiding by the law and seeking God Almighty’s pleasure i find myself in the mist of constantly striving for success.

Success is measured different ways, but of course we all want to achieve success in the afterlife. Every time we think about the unconceivable amount of blessings God has bestowed upon us we should thank him. Its our obligation being showered by his mercy.

Trying to maximize your potential is essential for your success as a human being. We all have to tie our camel, by this i mean “we do our best and God will do the rest” as Mufti Abdul Rehman Ibn Yusuf would say. A lot of times we feel like we can’t achieve a goal but we should always be confident. Some interesting points to look at Shaykh al-Islam Shabbir Usmani said that if 4 matters are present, success is guaranteed:

1) one’s intention must be true;
2) one’s goal must be true;
3) the means one takes must be true; and
4) the way one takes the means must be true.

We know that actions are judged by intentions so do everything for the sake of God, ask yourself what skills you possess? what are your interests? what do you envision with your potentials? and of course make sincerity.

A lot of times we tend to forget God in our life, its good after we sneeze we say “Alhumduillah” meaning Praise be to God, remember God all the time.

So how do you measure success?

Everybody will have different perspectives on how they measure success but i think we all want to be happy, healthy, and halal…

Its about the afterlife, this life will come to an end, we (Muslims) are travelers in this world and indeed in paradise is eternal happiness, As the Quran says

God promises those among you who believe and lead righteous life, that He will make them sovereigns on earth, as He did for those before them, and will establish for them the religion He has chosen for them, and will substitute peace and security for them in place of fear. All this because they worship Me alone, without setting up any idols besides Me. Those who disbelieve after this are the truly wicked” (24:55).

Grab the measuring tape! Of course this topic can go much deeper, this is just what i feel about it.

Jazakullah for you time, God willing we all benefit from each other and are successful in this life and in the hereafter..Ameen!

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad said “The intelligent one is the one who remembers death most often, and prepares for it. They leave this world in honor and with the blessings of the Hereafter. [Ibn Abi Dunya]

Why are Muslims Getting Tipsy?

Why are Muslims getting crunk? Its a good question that should be asked, but the point is obviously there is an absence of deen and understanding . All i gotta say is FEAR God Almighty (Allah)! I can understand when we slip on little things but if someone claims to be a Muslim then enjoys drinking alcohol which directly has been forbidden (haram) by Allah then come on whats happening?. Stop following lil john, follow the sunnah!

God Almighty says in the Quran “They ask you concerning alcohol and gambling. Say: “In them is a great sin, and some benefits for men, but the sin is far greater than the benefit.”Holy Qur’an 2:219. So chill out.

Whats interesting is that our Prophet Muhammad said “Among my ummah there will certainly be people who permit zinaa, silk, alcohol and musical instruments…”
hmrbeer1.gif
From looking at this hadith, you can sort of say that is expected for some of the ummah to fall into these practices, now a person who is Muslim and is drinking obviously can’t use this hadith and say its ok for me to drink. This hadith reflects the reality of the signs of the day of judgment. The signs include such as the decline of knowledge, the spread of ignorance, drinking of wine or alcohol, competition in the construction of tall buildings, and many others.

The scholars have listed almost sixty signs, some of which will accompany the major signs, or will appear afterwards.

So back to the matter at hand, recently i came across an halal restaurant that had a coors light advertisement, i guess people do anything to make money in this country now. The same happen when i walked into a deli that was selling lotto and beer, when i asked the brother why he was selling it he said “Alhumduillah, this is America, we do business for everyone”, i was going to tell him ” good luck on the day of judgment”.

It all comes down to immediate pleasure, enjoyment, lack of taqwa and is a direct reflection of the state the individual is in. People drink to escape reality, this is what they do to numb their soul but obviously it all comes to an end. Mashallah thats why we have to hold onto our deen, my man Shaykh Hamza Yusuf mentioned that doctors will tell people that alcohol is good for their heart, never mind their kidneys and liver. Then he continued and said something mad real, he said if you look at what alcohol does to society it basically leaves two groups, those who drink moderately and the other group which are addicted.

Alcohol is responsible for over 100,000 deaths in the United States each year, the Shaykh said this is why Islam is so great because it prohibits something to save that small percentage. Yes you have people that drink it moderately but those who drink it like water, look at how many hit and run accident there are and deaths, this is one of the benefits why Islam prohibits it. Think about it.

I also have to say, all these Desi party’s that Hindus do with Muslims are one of the reasons why our ummah is slipping, they create this conformity with culture to our south asian brothers and sisters and boom look what happens. Astugfurillah Ak, gotta be on point and have strong willpower. Napolean from the Outlaws who reverted to Islam Mashallah said ” when i came back from hajj, i had this beautiful feeling i never felt before in my life, Alcohol never gave me this feeling, it must have been that zam zam water”. Haha, real talk by brother Napoleon.

Oh yea even if your not muslim you should stop drinking for your own benefit as a human being, Inshallah we should make dua for all those who are drinking stop (muslim and non muslim) and Allah give them hidayat (Guidance) and save them from the Hellfire. Ameen! leave a comment, pass the knowledge inshallah, and next time someone offers you Alcohol or calls you to a place where everybody will get crunk, drunk. Stay as a real true servant of Allah (SWT) and be like “Chill Yo Islam Yo”

Ahmadinejad leaves Iran to perform hajj

Ahmadinejad is Making power moves to Mecca! Yup Mashallah its good to know that in the mist of international affairs and war tensions the President of weiss-ahmadinejad.jpg Iran Ahmadinejad went to Saudi Arabia to perform the Hajj (the pilgrimage to mecca which is an obligation upon every Muslim).

He actually is the first president of Iran to perform the Hajj, i honestly wasn’t expecting him to go, but Inshallah Allah(God Almighty) guide him and all the leaders of the world to help create peace on earth.

It goes to show how powerful hajj is, a president of a country will be doing tawaf and dressed the same as those who are weak, rich, poor, black, white, yellow, this is what you call universal unity and that is what Islam promotes, brotherhood and sisterhood. Thats what malcolm x said and anybody who went there can tell you the same thing. Hajj is the largest religious gathering of any faith tradition on this planet and it goes to show by the mercy of Allah and guidance more and more people are accepting Islam mashallah.

Inshallah this year, there will be approximately 3 million plus muslims performing the Pilgrimage, we ask Allah to make it easy for them and have them return safely and make it a purifying and life changing experience for them.

So yea, Inshallah make plans to go to hajj, the earlier the better, if you get married, make it your honeymoon trip. Thats a start of a new life with your wife. Drink that zum zum water, pray 1 million rakats, and oh yea i forgot about the rolex store outside the kabah..haha, its all good buy yourself a rolex but make sure you pray salat on time.

Wasalaam Yo!

ISNA’s Eid-Al-Adha Evaluated by Mufti Taqi Usmani

Salam, Its good to hear one of the most recognized Islamic Scholars and Jurist in the World Mufti Taqi Usmani has wrote a response to Islamic Society of North America(the largest muslim organization in north america) on what he feels about the date they chose to celebrate eid and why it isn’t right.

Maulana’s Response

I have gone through the article of ISNA and with the utmost respect for their sentiment for Muslim unity, I am forced to say that the view expressed in the article (Eid al-Adha on next day of Arafat) is in total disagreement with the teachings of Quran and Sunnah, and with the Shari’ah position recognized throughout the centuries. This is an unprecedented view which has never been adopted by any of the Muslim jurists during the past 1400 years, and it has a number of intrinsic defects and anomalies, some of which are summarized here.
The article admits that the celebration of Eid al-Fitr should be tied to the sighting of the moon in each country and should not be linked with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr in Saudi Arabia. At the same time, however, the article calls for celebration of Eid al-Adha according to the Saudi Calendar regardless of the local dates, which means Eid al-Adha will be celebrated in North America on 8th or 9th of Zul-Hajjah. It is thus clear that the theory proposed in ISNA’s article is impractical.

The article has laid much emphasis on the concept of unity of the Muslim Ummah, which no one can deny. At the same time, however, one must appreciate that unity does not mean that the entire Muslim Ummah throughout the world should perform their acts of worship at one and the same time, because it is physically not possible. It is evident that when people in Saudi Arabia are performing their Fajr prayers, those in North America may still have not completed their Isha prayers of the previous day. Similarly, when Muslims in Los Angeles offer their Fajr prayers, those in India and Pakistan are offering their Maghrib or Isha prayer of the same day.

If it is made obligatory on all the Muslims in the world to offer their acts of worship at one and the same time for the sake of unity, such unity can never materialize (because of the time differences). It is, therefore, obvious that offering one’s acts of worship at different times do not affect the concept of Muslim Unity.

What does the Muslim unity mean?

It means that all Muslims should treat each other with brotherly sympathy and affection and should not spread disorder and dissension among them. Nor should they invent new ideas foreign to the teachings of Quran and the Sunnah which may lead to division and conflict among Muslims.

It is also astonishing that the article views the celebration of Eid al-Adha on different days as being against the concept of Ummah while in the matter of celebration of Eid ai-Fitr, this concept is dispensed with. If the celebration of Eid al-Fitr on different days does not affect the concept of unity, how can it be said to harm unity in the case of Eid al-Adha?

It is true that Eid al-Adha falls immediately after the day of Arafat in Saudi Arabia, but it is not necessary that the Muslims in every country should follow the same dates in their respective areas. Hajj, no doubt, is tied with a particular place but the celebration of Eid al-Adha is not confined to that place alone. It is celebrated everywhere in the world and cannot be tied to the Saudi calendar.

The article admits that the celebration of Eid al-Adha in other countries was never linked with its celebration in Saudi Arabia throughout the past 14 centuries. This, the author’s claim was because of a lack of communication facilities. With vastly improved communication today, they argued that everyone almost anywhere can find out the day of Hajj, and should celebrate Eid al-Adha based on Saudi calendar.

There is a clear admission in this argument that it is not obligatory according to Quran or the Sunnah to celebrate Eid al-Adha according to Saudi calendar. Had this been so, Muslims would have tried their best to find the exact date of Hajj in Saudi Arabia. It is not correct to say that it was not possible in those days for people living outside Saudi Arabia to know the exact date of Hajj, because this date is normally determined on the first night of Zul-Hijjah. There is a nine day period until which is more than sufficient to acquire this information. However, no jurists has ever stressed that such information be collected in order to celebrate Eid al-Adha according to Saudi dates.

Further, if the argument of the article is accepted and it is held that the real intention of Quran and Sunnah was to link the celebration of Eid al-Adha with the Saudi dates, as a mandatory provision for all Muslims in the world, it means that the Shari’ah has stressed a principle which was not acceptable for 1300 years. Is it not against the Quranic declaration that Allah does not make a thing mandatory unless it is practical for the human beings.

If the authors argue that the celebration of Eid al-Adha was not linked with the dates in Makkah in the past but it has become a mandatory requirement of the Shari’ah now, then the question arises, who has abrogated the previous principle and on what basis? There is no provision in Quran or the Sunnah which orders the Muslims to celebrate Eid al-Adha according to their local dates up to a particular time and to link it with the dates in Makkah thereafter. Whoever considers this and similar questions arising out of this unprecedented theory advanced in the article can appreciate its fallacy.

Finally, I would like to inform you that the question of sighting the moon for each lunar month including Zul-Hijjah was thoroughly discussed at the annual sessions of the Islamic Fiqh Academy (held in Jordan, October 11-16, 1986) attended by more than a hundred outstanding scholars of Shari’ah. The academy adopted the resolution recommended that all Muslim countries should determine all the lunar months including Zul-Hijjah on the same basis for both Eid al-Fitr as well as Eid al-Adha.

This resolution represents the consensus of Muslim jurists throughout the world. The proposal contained in the ISNA article, however, goes totally against this consensus - (see note below).

Before parting with the subject, I would like to emphasize that such unprecedented proposals can never advance the cause of Muslim unity. Rather, they may create a new point of disunity and dissention among Muslims. Before venturing such opinions as definite “Fatwa”, these should be discussed at some responsible international forum of contemporary Muslim jurists like the International Islamic Fiqh Academy in Jeddah.

Knicks worth $604 Million dollars..

Salam, knicks_300×250.gif

As a New Yorker trying to find a team to root for considering the Yankees failed, the giants and jets are lost causes and the mets are miserable, basketball being my favorite sport i hope to find the knicks performing well considering they are the only basketball team Jew York has i mean New York has.

Being a baller from Brooklyn i myself look forward to watching stephon marbuary play at times, but guess what? every time i watch a game, it gives me another reason to believe the knicks don’t care about winning rather they are thinking about money money money!!

For the third straight year the knicks have been rated the top valuable franchise in the NBA, the way they play i think they can be beaten by the best team in the WNBA. I find it real interesting how although they consistently maintain one of the worst records in the league every year especially in the Eastern Conference Atlantic Division they still manage to cash in.

In the 2006 - 2007 season, they made a whopping 196 million dollars in revenue, although their record from 33-49 and they missed the playoffs. From concessions to their MSG tv channel to advertisements and any other way you can think of. The garden has an experience, this experience is what makes MSG what it is and why people are willing to spend so much money to watch the knicks play. I haven’t ever gone to the garden but inshallah i would like to go and observe how it is.

As a muslim watching sports and certain games, i would say the thing that deludes me most is when i watch a game for three hours and then my team loses. Most people get angry about how their team played if they lost but i worry about the time i wasted sitting in front of the tv. That time is gone and i could have done something better, but i guess everyone wins and loses, im just pissed off at the knicks cause they have a team commitment to losing. But how can i blame them their owner said “winning isn’t our number one concern”.

I think they will shape up when the nets move to Brooklyn, because then it will be a real business for them as they will have to compete with ticket sales to New York sport fans. Right now they get all the money they want because they are the only team in New York has, so let’s see what happens.

Inshallah they get better and shape up because when you have fans then you need to play with heart, which is why my favorite player is Allen Iverson, as he says “Only the Strong Survive”. I have learned to not really care about sports the way i used to before, gotta prioritize my energies and focus on important things such as deen, but if you are going to watch a game, then at least watch teams you have faith in that are going to be competitive.

Effect of Repeating the Word “Allah”

Effect of Repeating the Word ‘Allah’ by Vander Hoben from Sunnipath banner.jpg

Assalamu alaikum,

Psychologist Discovers Effect of Repeating “ALLAH” the Arabic way, with the tongue touching slightly the upper part of the jaw producing a short pause and then repeating the same pause constantly, relaxes the aspiration. Also, pronouncing the last letter which is the letter (H) makes a contact between the lungs and the heart and in turn this contact controls the heartbeat.

What is exciting in the study is that this psychologist is a non-Muslim, but interested in Islamic sciences and searching for the secrets of the Holy Qur’an. Allah, The Great and Glorious, says,

“We will show them Our signs in the universe and in their own selves, until it becomes manifest to them that this (Qur’an) is the truth.” (Holy Qur’an 42:53)
