It’s going to be a hot summer…

Salam Yo,

It’s going to be a hot summer, that’s what I hear nowadays. What do people mean by that? I have no idea, All I know is what the scholars say this time around, “it’s going to be harder for you to lower your gaze” and keep it moving like the road runner. Meep Meep.. No doubt that’s definitely true, I don’t think anybody disagrees with that. I guess it will be hot, if all the devils are out. If you want to go to the beach, go at fajr time Inshallah. With your wife.

So taking my story, I work in the mall where you constantly have to lower your gaze. Sometimes when we do some serious detailed cleaning I have to mop with bleach and windex, for that span off time, my eyes are on the floor watching it slowly begin to shine. Inshallah on the day of judgment our face’s will shine also.

Controlling our natural temptations and rectifying our inner self is part of life. Islam tells us how to control ourselves and stay on the guard, the right guard, like the deodorant. Some people say it’s ok to look once, then we have the slick Muslims who look and don’t blink. Some even get a quick glance and wink. Other’s stare like they are looking at themselves in the mirror. Well putting all that to side, as believers we constantly try to remember God Almighty, all the blessings which he has bestowed in our life. One of which include the eyes.

The principle of life which should help us in showing gratitude is to accept the fact as humans, we don’t appreciate something until we lose it. Alhumduillah everyday we wake up, our soul is returned to our body. God Almighty gives us more time to do good in this life, but because we lose focus and become distracted very easily we take the time and waste it. Sort of like a wedding ring in a cell.

My cousin who recently got married told me “saad just because you get married doesn’t mean it’s easier to lower your gaze”. If you see an attractive girl walk by you while your driving, it’s going to be hard for you not to look. Inshallah Marriage makes it easier, but I understand what he was saying.

What thing we gotta respect all year around but especially in the summer is our Muslim sisters who wear hijab. It’s not easy, all the girls who dress mad loose complain how hot the weather is burning and they hardly wear anything. Where as the sisters who dress modestly don’t complain. That’s official. Also protecting your skin and head in the summer is important. One of the benefits of hijab and modest clothing is protection from skin cancer and rays from the sun which are dangerous.

To end this article, I just want to say that our sight is a gift. We should preserve our eye, in the spiritual and physical sense. Of course being blind is a great loss, but being blind in this life in a spiritual aspect is incredibly dangerous. If Allah swt tells us to lower our gaze, we should. We wouldn’t want someone looking at our sisters or mother like that so why contribute to that type of behavior.

At the end of the day, we have to reflect off this ayah where God Almighty says ” Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty. That is purer for them. Verily, Allah is All aware of what they do. Say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty…Oh you who believe! Turn all together towards Allah that you may attain success. (Surah Nuh, 30:31)

So next time you see a girl that catches your attention, don’t od. Tell yourself ” Chill Yo Islam Yo”… and remember Allah swt is watching you. That’s what it comes down to, I can write all day convincing myself and you guys about the sinning, but it all comes down to the basics. Don’t make it complicated like the matrix.

This last ayah in the Quran in Surah Balad is mad serious. It’s all about remembering Allah in your hearts, and that’s when we will find real rest and comfort. God Almighty says in the Holy Quran “Thinks he that none sees him? Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?”. Basically this means that Allah has given us eyesight and we are so foolish we sin and start totally forget that he is watching us. Astugfurillah…

Let me say it straight up, Summer fever means tough times for the believer. Check out this official video from my man Imam Siraj Wihaj

I’m out, Waslaaam.

It’s all about the halal benjamin’s baby…

Salam,

Stack that paper, get that halal consumption and live a good life. Their are two things I hate, debt’s and exaggerated story’s that have no purpose. I tend to observe more than I talk nowadays, especially cruising through different environment’s like college to work then back to the hood a.k.a Brooklyn.

As a Muslim from the outside looking in, one thing that strikes me is that wherever I go, or for that matter any of us, people are going to look at us and ask themselves hmm…is this what Islam teaches? What are we contributing to Islam? Especially at the workplace, yesterday I was praying in the back of the store with one of my friends and one of the employees who’s a security guard came to the back and started talking about our salat. He was a bit astonished by our acts of worship.

Of course I got distracted, he said ” yo these guys are serious, they praying together at work”, then he followed by saying “are they still on the clock”? Then he said something real funny, “They getting paid to pray”? Ima start doing that to. Haha. So he basically thinks we are slick by praying at work, but yea my manager is cool like that so I take my time praying on the clock. =P.

I’m not a certified financial planner or analyst. I wanted to put you on to “being real with your money”. What I mean by that is do we spend money the way we earn it? or do we swipe our credit card’s like metro card’s and abuse it? I mean at the end of the day, it’s all about being real with yourself. Where I work I see customers walk in and buy $300 jeans. This is what we call an impulse buyer in marketing or a nafsi nafsi buyer.

They see something and boom they have to buy it, no matter how hard they work for their money. I mean don’t get me wrong, It’s good to look nice, their is nothing wrong with wearing expensive clothes but to have pride eventually destroys the soul, keep your intentions pure like Poland spring water, I mean zum zum water.

I found out recently that Islam through Indonesia through trade and honest businessman. We all know that Indonesia has the largest Muslim Population.

This is real interesting to me because cheating people for their money or as we say in Brooklyn “beating people in the head” contributes largely to your success in business. At the end of the day, it’s all about honesty and selling something to the customer how it is. Not putting on a front or sugar coating, check out this beautiful hadith.

Abu Said related that the Prophet said: The truthful and trustworthy businessman will be in the company of Prophets, saints and martyrs on the Day of Judgment. (Darimi, Tirmidhi)

If you look at circuit city and best buy, they sell THE same exact products. They even do match pricing, which is a technique to sell to the customer. If I see something at best buy for three hundred dollars ($300) and circuit has it for four hundred ($400), then circuit city will match best buys price.

This shows that in order for both of them to succeed its not the price, it’s the service. If you want blessings in your business, you gotta keep it real with your customers if you hope to sell them something. This satisfaction leads to a loyal customer, who will keep coming back to you. Their are millions of businesses that fail every year, sometimes its the location, sometimes its the product but let me say one thing. All the stores I’ve been to that had me impressed had great customer service.

Smiling is Sunnah, McDonald’s employees have to smile if they are working on the front line. The bottom line is anything that involves business and handling money, we have to look at the sunnah. To me the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and salutations be upon him) is professionalism at it’s best.

What I want to leave with you today is

1) If you don’t have the money to buy something, don’t buy it.

2) If you have a debt, pay it off. ( It is narrated by Abu Musa Ashari that the Prophet said: After the major sins which must be avoided, the greatest sin is that someone dies in a state of debt and leaves behind no asset to pay it off. (Darimi)

3) If you open up a business, you better be selling something beneficial and halal. Not weed or crack.

Abu Huraira narrated that the Prophet said: A time will come upon the people when one will not care how one gains one’s money, legally or illegally. (Bukhari).

It is reported by Jabir that the Prophet said: The flesh and body that is raised on unlawful sustenance shall not enter Paradise. Hell is more deserving to the flesh that grows on one’s body out of unlawful sustenance. (Ahmad).

4) Honesty is the key to paradise, don’t be like Pinocchio in your trade and don’t be cheap.

Abu Huraira related that the Prophet said: The Lord’s commandment for every one of His slaves is, ‘Spend on others, and I will spend on you’. (Bukhari, Muslim)

Alright, that wraps it up like a mummy. Inshallah I will write again soon.

One rapper said ” More money more problems, I’m working with both, but your problems are worse when your broke”.

May Allah swt give us comfort in this life, put blessings in our earning’s and help all those in need. Ameen. Real halal talk..Wasalaam.

This was a hot article from Muslim Matters on controlling your debt.

Real busy…

Salam,

Sorry everyone for not posting for a couple of days, I actually have started a new job and I’m working full time like a slave, haha. It’s all good we are slaves of Allah (swt) Alhumduillah, but yea I come home late everyday now. Inshallah I will post some new article’s soon. Until then go sell halal rice krispie treats and get your halal hustle on.

Oh yea before I bounce I want you to please listen to this recitation, this makes my day after I come home from work. No music can match this recitation. I can’t wait till ramadan, I will go to astoria to visit this masjid because this sheikh’s recitation is breathtaking. Check it out. His name is Shiekh Ahmad, he’s from Egypt. Don’t get it twisted.

To wrap it all up, here is one beautiful hadith which I was discussing with some of my friends today. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (s) said : “God loves to see his servant exhausted after an honest day’s work”. (Ad-daylami)

Look at the blessing in making halal money…I’m out, Gotta pray Isha and go to sleep. Be back like my hairline… =). Wasalaam.
