Salam yo,

Shrek, Listerine, doublemint gum, marijuana (chill yo islam yo), nature, grass, fresh, those are some images that come to my head when I think of the color green.

The religion of Islam? to some people it does, they consider the color “holy”

So I decided to do some research since I see some brothers rockin green turbans, alot of masjids painted green, green donation boxes, green crescents, green lota’s, ha and Irish Muslims, well for them it makes sense right?

Anyways so what’s the deal with the color green and what does it have to do with Islam?

Well some people can argue there is something holy about the color green from an Islamic perspective since it was the favorite color of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (s), I couldn’t find a hadith on that. If someone does, please share it with us. I have read that Prophet Muhammad (s) had a green cloak and wore a green turban.

Then we go to the Holy Qur’an, their is one ayah I found on the color green.

Paradise is described to be filled with green: the people of Paradise “will wear green garments of fine silk [The Noble Quran, 18:31].”

On a side note, The Teacher of Moses was known as Al-Khidr (literally, “the green one”. He represents right action as the caretaker of this world.

So that’s about it, I couldn’t find much Islamic proof on the color green being “holy”. I guess greenery makes you think of peace and tranquility, it’s very nature oriented so it’s definitely beautiful. But to say it’s “holy”, means your getting reward in some way by wearing a green turban or making a masjid green.

In conclusion, their is nothing holy about it I believe as oppose to the color white which I remember reading hadith on. Green is definitely a vibrant and captivating color but yea don’t get out of hand forcing brothers and sisters to believe it’s holy. Like any subject or issue, we should always do our research first then pass judgments.

Salam yo,insh’Allah I’ll be going to the screening of Journey to Mecca today in the city, and it’s in IMAX!

I’m starting to realize every time I try to give some money for the masjid or charity shatan comes sideways at me and is like “chill your going to be broke saad”. Then I say to shatan “chill, fall back” I trust Allah swt.

Especially on Fridays when I’m about to run out the house to catch my ride to Jumu’ah, I put on my halal alcohol free oils and take whatever I can out of my wallet before I get those Haraam whispers from Shatan. Even if it’s a little bit of money, you should give it. Allah swt knows your intention and how much you can give realistically, don’t worry you will start seeing the cashflow like fidel castro come insh’Allah.

I know this is common with you guys also, shatan makes alot of us think that if we drop money in the donation box for the sake of Allah swt we won’t be financially secure. This however is not the case, because Allah (swt) promises us 10x back. Yup that’s right, so if your a believer and your not cheap you should start investing now! Forget the stock market, just playing you can invest in shariah compliant company’s.

So yea, your not being a real Muslim if your cheap, because Allah swt says in the Qur’an  “And those, who, when they spend, are neither extravagant nor stingy, but hold a medium (way) between those (extremes).”

insh’Allah the next time the donation box comes around, drop the halal guap (money) like it’s hot! Oh and keep your intentions clean like zum zum water, don’t show off otherwise there is no point.

I end with a beautiful hadith by our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace by upon him) in which he said “Never will charity diminish wealth, rather it increases it”and in another narration the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Charity extinguishes sins as water extinguishes fire.”
