How a Muslim should Walk

Did you ever think about how you walk? Probably not right? Well it shows a lot about your psychology. ist2_5807764-guy-walking2.jpg

Now I’m speaking generally, of course your not going to keep your head down and walk right into a pole but interestingly enough the Qur’an reminds us on how to walk.

“And the servants of the Beneficent God are they who walk on the earth in humbleness, and when the ignorant address them, they say: Peace.” (Quran  25.63 )

Now some people like to walk like they own the sidewalk and they have all all the power in the world, sorry but God can send an earthquake to any of us, so be kind to the earth beneath your feet like Prophet Jesus (Peace be upon said). We all become victims of arrogance at some point in our life’s. This reflects through our everyday behavior such as speech, how we greet people and in the way we walk.

In high school, I remember a lot of kids walked purposely with pride all puffed up like a peacock. People from a range of age groups and different lifestyles do this in many different setting’s and environments. In the hood, people like to walk with a limp, resembling pimps. Yea, astugfurillah.

Different ideas get to people that make them walk a certain way, however as a Muslim here are some points from the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet we all should try to implement:

  • Try to keep humble and lower your gaze (you know what I mean) Now obviously if your in a neighborhood with convicted muggers around you should keep your head up and eyes open!
  • Try not to make noise when you walk, it attracts attention. I hate the sound of heels, seriously.
  • Share the sidewalk! We all pay taxes Sometimes I realize people walk right into you without saying excuse me or making way for oncoming traffic
  • Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) use to walk fast paced and when people saw him, they said it appeared as if he was walking downhill and certainly he walking with intention

Well there you have it, start walking and burn those calories, I mean sins. =)

8th Annual Reviving the Islamic Spirit Convention (2009)

I wish I can attend this conference, a little far for me though. Let’s see insh’Allah, Allah swt is the best of planners!

Alot of scholars and attendees say it’s a completely different experience from other conventions…hmm interesting.

What Muslims should Know about the Fever

Salam yo,

Sorry for not posting for the last two days. Fever

Since I’ve been stuck with a fever, I decided to do some research and wanted to see if being afflicted with the fever means anything from an Islamic perspective.

I’m going to do a Hadith blitz on you so get ready.

The first Hadith I came across stated:

Narrated Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri and Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, “No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that Allah expiates some of his sins for that.”

In another Hadith:

Narrated ‘Abdullah: I visited Allah’s Apostle while he was suffering from a high fever. I said, “O Allah’s Apostle! You have a high fever.” He said, “Yes, I have as much fever as two men of you.” I said, “Is it because you will have a double reward?” He said, “Yes, it is so. No Muslim is afflicted with any harm, even if it were the prick of a thorn, but that Allah expiates his sins because of that, as a tree sheds its leaves.”

Feeling better already? haha, well you better.

Miracle or hoax? Russians puzzled as phrases from the Koran start appearing ’spontaneously’ on baby’s skin

Sheikh Faraz Rabbani originally posted this on facebook via dailymail.co.uk

Strange, I guess seeing is believing. Is it official? Allah swt knows best.

A baby is sparking a wave of speculation in Russia after phrases from the Koran allegedly began appearing on his skin.

Sayings from the Muslim holy book are said to appear on nine-month-old Ali Yakubov’s back, arms, legs and stomach - before apparently fading away and being replaced with new sayings.

Russian medics claimed they are puzzled over the cause of the marks on a baby’s skin, which started when the word Allah apparently appeared on his chin within weeks of his birth.

Medics deny that the marks are from someone writing on the child’s skin. His mother, Madina, said that she and her husband were not religious until the writings started appearing on his skin.

Local imam Abdulla has told locals that the Koran forecasts that before the end of the world, there may be people with its sayings on their bodies. He said that one sign read: ‘Don’t hide these signs from the people.’

Does anyone know where the imam got this from? Please share it.

Why Halal is more humane

Interesting article, after reading this it’s easier to understand why more and more non Muslims have switched to Halal.

Andy Elliott may think that the suffering faced by animals slaughtered under Halal law is ‘unimaginable’ (Write Back, October 16), yet should he inadvertently cut himself with something sharp, he would not notice until he saw the bleeding, as happens from time to time when handling sheets of paper.

When the arteries in the neck are severed, blood pressure to the brain falls to negligible levels almost instantly, rendering the animal unconscious, certainly faster than the time lapse until any pain resulting from the cut could possibly be felt.

What Mr Elliott fails to appreciate is that the stunning process itself often fails to be effective at its first application, requiring repeated attempts which causes considerable pain and distress to the animal.

In reality, when performed by a skilled slaughterer, this is the most humane way of killing animals.
