Dwight Howard Thanks God First After Winning Game Seven

Salam,

You might not care but I do, I love how Dwight Howard first gave thanks to God after today’s game and then said you gotta do what you can in any situation and God does the rest. That reminds me of when Mufti Abdul Rehman Ibn Yusuf was speaking to us about tying our camels and putting trust in Allah swt. Meaning if you ever get worried about a test, or risks in life, he said just “Do your best and Allah swt does the rest”, that’s my new motto. I don’t know what Dwight’s Aqeedah is, haha, but he can become Muslim, sure why not?

May Allah (swt) guide the Non Muslims to Islam, Ameen! Including you Dwight Howard/Superman, being as big as Dwight is a blessing, he reminds of a couple of African American brothers or AK’s that come to the Mosque that are giants, Inshallah we can be giants in our ranks on the day of judgment. Chill I need a super-eman rush.

Anyways watch the interview below

Michael Phelps exercise

Salam,

So how does a guy like Micheal Phelps who consumes 12,000 calories a day swim 50 miles a week? let’s find out. With all the news buzz on Michael Phelps exercise and his extraordinary swimming skills, I figured let me analyze his lifestyle a little bit and how we can benefit from it. This all leads to applied fitness in Islam and how we should all step up our game and get in shape, otherwise we are going to melt in Ramadan and we won’t be able to stand up in Tarawih Prayer.

I think it’s sad that alot of Non Muslims feel we can’t learn from them. Whether it be in education, sports, contributing to a better society and raising our standards, there is much we can learn, and much calories we can burn like the Micheal Phelps exercise.

All of the best of course which the Non Muslims bring fourth our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and salutations be upon him) had, his life manifested all of the best qualities a human being can have. So whatever he did, he did it for a bigger wisdom. Of course alot of Muslims haven’t studied the seerah nor we do have sufficient knowledge of the beloved sunnah, including myself and as a result people are uneducated about what Islam teaches.

So how does Michael Phelps relate to Muslims? You have ten seconds, count the dots……….Well he’s a professional swimmer, an olympic gold medalist who has more medals than Desi’s have Masalas. When I say gold medalist, I’m talking about top notch athlete. His swimming abilities are exceptional and guess what? Swimming is Sunnah!

Yup it’s recommended highly from our beloved Prophet Muhammad (S),  an a official hadith narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (R.A) in which our beloved Prophet said  ” Teach your children swimming, archery and horse riding”.

Let’s look at the benefits of swimming (information from lifescript.com)

1)  It’s a Sunnah , first and foremost. It improves cardiovascular conditioning.

2)  It is a form of meditation which calms the nerves.

3)  It improves muscle strength, endurance, posture and flexibility all at the same time.

4) It improves body’s use of oxygen. Making blood flow to the lungs and heart more efficient.

5) A swimmer can burn as many calories in an hour, as a runner who runs six miles in one hour.

Wow, that’s impressive. So get moving, if you don’t know how to swim. Wait, I shouldn’t be talking I don’t either, well I have asthma so I can’t hold my breath. Inshallah my lungs can handle it one day.

So if athletes can swim at this level, let’s complete the minimum and at least learn it since our beloved Prophet told us. Start swimming with the sharks, na just playin, swim in clean water so your always in a state of wudu =P.

I felt I needed to talk about this, drawing parallels from world events to Islam is always a great thing to do.

Alright I’m out peoples. Wasalaam.

Waking up for Fajr…

Waking up for fajr seems to be getting harder and harder, when I try to go to sleep early I get this feeling of reading some eman rushin books, listening to speeches and watching nba games. As a result I don’t go to sleep until pretty late, like yesterday I came back from the Shakyh Hamza Yusuf Minara Program, Mashallah It was nice. I got to give him a pound for the first time and saw him in person. It’s kind of weird seeing a person for the first time, after you have been hearing him for so long on the internet and reading their books.

That wasn’t easy, as soon as he got off the stage everyone ran after him like he was wrapped with a million dollars. I was able to slickly penetrate through the crowd and eventually get him to say salaam to me. People were going crazy, from the men to the women. It’s good to know we have scholars who can ground themselves with alot of Muslims who are feeling their wisdom and approach to practically establishing Muslim communities here.

So after I came home, I ate desi food, destroyed my stomach, clogged up my arteries and ended up watching the Dallas vs New Orleans game. That was a waste because shatan got to me and I delayed isha till the 4th quarter.

Time to prioritize the deen with a fixed schedule. I noticed this is becoming a habit and that’s causing me to miss fajr or fagr as the egyptians say. Astugfurillah. Astukfurillah. I need to condition myself to go to sleep early and wake up early. I even set my alarm, then when I get up, “shatan is like saad you got some time keep resting”, before you know it I missed fajr. I have to make it up when I wake up and that I always try to do. The problem is standards, As Muslim’s we gotta get the big picture, not like Picasso, his pictures are random and have no order.

My friend’s mom throws a jug of cold water on him to make sure he get’s up fajr. Haha, he basically wakes up with wudu. Makes sense. Shatan is made out of fire, cool him down to get the person up for fajr. I should hire a person to do that for me. Actually no, because what’s going to happen when that person leaves. It’s all about the heart and establishing tawhid and attaining taqwa.

So my point was if something is preventing you from praying or delaying your prayers, then it’s time to give it up or save it till after prayer. Especially if your addicted to it. It’s amazing for me to see some of us including me go out of our way to do things for the dunya, wait for roller coasters on six flag lines, but it seems like a journey to pray salat for 5 minutes. That’s the problem. The solution is driving our energies in the right direction. May Allah swt prevent us from going astray and allow us to make up for our mistakes. Ameen…check out this video below, it’s mad funny and is all “Real halal talk”

Time to Change..

Salam, ist2_5143105_business_character1.jpg

Why do so many people judge other people by their past? What no one can ever change for the better? No one walking this earth’s surface is perfect. Get it straight. I think one of the biggest problems with humans these days is they always tend to look at another persons mistake rather than saying you know its all good, they made mistakes, we all made mistakes and Inshallah with a sincere commitment to learning from those mistakes and changing for the better then you can perhaps rectify and transform yourself as an individual against your negative impulses.

Everyone has the potential to change, we all had our regretful days or moments where we sinned. That’s something you must move past and accept the fact that time is limited and we must act accordingly to the commands of Allah while we are conscious in our positive states. This takes constant reflection and remembrance that God is watching you and every opportunity that comes our way, we can’t be losers. We have to take advantage of it. Every breath we take, is another blessing from God Almighty bestowed upon us. It’s up to you how you want to act according to your next breath and next heart beat, nothing is promised in life. The only thing promised in life is death.

This issue is something so prevalent in our time, amongst Muslims and non Muslims both. After doing some observation and picking up on this mentality in society i realized that alot of people always put others down to keep themselves up. Well I tell them to relax because we will all go down to the graves eventually and we have to throw our pride on the floor. It’s easy for us to say oh since i pray more than him or her I’m better. This is the trick of the devil, no one can ever say they have reached their highest level. One of of the things about Islam is the message which is obligated upon us Muslims to continue carrying on but most importantly setting and putting the teachings into practice.

Actions speak louder than words, the whole world agrees to this. It’s easy for us to point out a person’s mistakes, but what i learned from life is you will be accountable for yourself in the end. So we should be our own righteous lawyers and not professional liars.

The main point which I am trying to tell you guys is that before we look at others we must look at ourselves first. Thank you for reading this post, we ask God to help us all and guide us on the straight path…Ameen! Wasalaam Folks! I Just felt like writing this, its been on my mind alot.

OH YEA…I will be changing my theme soon, so you might see my site going up and down for maintainence and a extreme halal makeover. Please don’t mind, I feel like i need to make some changes because i have had this look for a really long time. Change is good for people and websites

Thank you for your love and support…your brother from another mother.

Driving Pass the Dunya

Salam Yo, ist2_4582044_sign_background.jpg

Thank God I finally got my permit, its good to know now i can give dawah on the road, whether it be having an I love Islam license plate or letting other cars get in front of me. Driving is mad fun especially in the beginning, once you put your hand on the wheels its like you can just drive wherever you want, you can go to the masjid if you have a car, now you have no excuse to miss fajr.

You can give people rides and get good deeds, haha alot of people told me “don’t get a car, because when you do you will always be giving people rides” and i noticed that myself because i always ask people for rides. Are they getting annoyed? God knows best but if they help me, Inshallah they will get rewarded for it. Do it for the sake of Allah

Anyhows anybody who drives knows you have to be defensive, especially in New York, where everyone is always in rush hour. I need an eman rush. Basically my point goes back to what Shaykh Hamza Yusuf Hanson Al Maliki said ” Driving is an Ibadah(form of worship) you can kill hundreds of people on the freeway”. So always be alert and keep your eyes on the road, not at haram things, lower your gaze!

He also said ” a car is a weapon of mass destruction, and you don’t give weapons of mass destruction to idiots”.

Its all good, just jump in the car, read the dua(supplication) for traveling and drive with confidence and watch out for the road devils filled with rage.

Its interesting now a days cars have navigation systems, Sheikh Khalid Yasin said ” If men can make navigation systems to tell you how to guide you from point A to point B then you don’t think God can guide you from this life to heaven thats the real destination, and he did give you the guidance and that is the Holy Quran!

So Yo, keep it moving in this life as our beloved Prophet Muhammad said we are just travelers. We gotta maximize our resources to the highest capacity whether it be using a computer to gain true knowledge or the car to go to the masjid or any place which is HALALUJAH!

Wasalaam, Stay up, Inshallah make dua i can get my driving license…..and marriage license! haha.

How do you measure success?

Salam, ist2_4185175_measuring_your_success.jpg

As a Muslim American trying my best to be a productive member of society, abiding by the law and seeking God Almighty’s pleasure i find myself in the mist of constantly striving for success.

Success is measured different ways, but of course we all want to achieve success in the afterlife. Every time we think about the unconceivable amount of blessings God has bestowed upon us we should thank him. Its our obligation being showered by his mercy.

Trying to maximize your potential is essential for your success as a human being. We all have to tie our camel, by this i mean “we do our best and God will do the rest” as Mufti Abdul Rehman Ibn Yusuf would say. A lot of times we feel like we can’t achieve a goal but we should always be confident. Some interesting points to look at Shaykh al-Islam Shabbir Usmani said that if 4 matters are present, success is guaranteed:

1) one’s intention must be true;
2) one’s goal must be true;
3) the means one takes must be true; and
4) the way one takes the means must be true.

We know that actions are judged by intentions so do everything for the sake of God, ask yourself what skills you possess? what are your interests? what do you envision with your potentials? and of course make sincerity.

A lot of times we tend to forget God in our life, its good after we sneeze we say “Alhumduillah” meaning Praise be to God, remember God all the time.

So how do you measure success?

Everybody will have different perspectives on how they measure success but i think we all want to be happy, healthy, and halal…

Its about the afterlife, this life will come to an end, we (Muslims) are travelers in this world and indeed in paradise is eternal happiness, As the Quran says

God promises those among you who believe and lead righteous life, that He will make them sovereigns on earth, as He did for those before them, and will establish for them the religion He has chosen for them, and will substitute peace and security for them in place of fear. All this because they worship Me alone, without setting up any idols besides Me. Those who disbelieve after this are the truly wicked” (24:55).

Grab the measuring tape! Of course this topic can go much deeper, this is just what i feel about it.

Jazakullah for you time, God willing we all benefit from each other and are successful in this life and in the hereafter..Ameen!

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad said “The intelligent one is the one who remembers death most often, and prepares for it. They leave this world in honor and with the blessings of the Hereafter. [Ibn Abi Dunya]

Making Power moves…

Salam Yo

Growing up in this corrupt society, being around haram environments (meaning placessalm-yo.jpg where people have haram practices, smoking weed, drinking, flirting you name it), associating with people who don’t really pray, I would say that there was a time when i came to the realization that i had to make power moves.

I think that alot of us go through this phase, and we gotta just step up and be real with people, i feel as if we are embarrassed to be Muslims, ever since i started growing a beard, people have started interesting conversations with me, where as other’s are like “oh you have a beard, but Islam is not in the beard”, so what am i supposed to do shave it off?, I don’t get people sometimes.
When you do bad they criticize you, which is acceptable because of course we should help each other, but not expose each other.

Meaning don’t tell the world the sins what kind of sins a person has committed, keep it on the low, you do that, Allah will cover yours on the day of judgement. Yea so i can understand when someone takes me to the side and says this is wrong brother saad, work on it. Alhumduillah good to know brothers care, but how about when you do good like grow a beard, and then every time you do something a little wrong, one guy has to come along and point out your faults in front of everybody, Weirdos.

So like i don’t understand, when i do bad, they criticize me, when i try to revive a sunnah, they point out every mistake, but umm gotta let stuff like that slide inshallah, because we submit to Allah, and Allah knows what in our hearts and our intentions before we do anything. That’s the beauty of Allah, he is the all knowing, so yes we have these moments when someone try’s to degrade us, but our sincere efforts are always known by Allah. Alhumduillah.

So Make power moves, stop being scared, it’s now or never, you would be surprise how many people become alert of deen through your power moves, halal transitions.

So inshallah let’s make power moves, internalize criticism. It’s always easy for us to look at other peoples faults. I like what Imam Ghazali said “the hypocrite looks for faults, the believer looks for excuses. Another important thing which i wanted to say is don’t cut off ties by becoming more on the deen. Show people that you don’t take practice in haram practices but let em know you will be there to help them, because this in reaction can bring them closer to the deen, Inshallah, and even people who you might think are bad, you will learn something from them, remember the worst state a person can be in is when he has confirmed that he has reached his highest potential in life. That will lead to his or her downfall. THROW YOUR PRIDE ON THE FLOOR!

Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Verily Allah likes three things for you and He disapproves three things for you. He is pleased with you that you worship Him and associate nor anything with Him, that you hold fast the rope of Allah, and be not scattered; and He disapproves for you irrelevant talk, persistent questioning and the wasting of wealth.

Inshallah hold on to the rope of Allah and be strong. Ameen! Power moves Yo!
